Ontario is being heralded globally for its environmentally proactive Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (SOP, or RESOP). This program follows the model of other successful European incentive programs, commonly referred to as "feed-in tarriffs", and offers $0.11/kWh for electricity generated from renewable sources (such as wind, water, or biofuels), plus $0.0352/kWh if that generation can be controlled and delivered during peak demand hours, or $0.42/kWh for solar PV. Mindscape's consulting team specializes in unlocking the mysteries of this program and in minimizing risk for our clients.

Several projects in Ontario have been cancelled or rendered financially unfeasible because connection and environmental requirements were not fully considered in advance. Mindscape's RESOP specialists can mitigate your project connection and environmental impact risks and help ensure that your project is successful.

Prequalification and Initial Feasibilty Services:

Investigation of local project limitations such as zoning bylaws and permitting requirements;
Verification of Environmental Impact Assessment requirements and local conservation authority requirements;
Investigation of local utility connection requirements.

Risk Mitigation Services:

Management of utility relationships and connection negotiations, including coordination with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) Plans Approval department;
Management of the Connection Impact Assessment (CIA) process;
Supporting owner's engineer with connection pre-designs;
Detailed definition and costing of the scope of any required Environmental Impact Assessments;
Cost-value studies for various assessments required, and final determination of whether required assessments or connection expenses may be prohibitive.

Project Implementation Services:

Procurement of a generator license from the Ontario Energy Board;
Environmental Impact Assessments or exemption letters;
Completing and filing RESOP applications;
Evaluation of utility connection options, and support for detailed connection design.
